Grass, Grass, Grass!

Since last month the grass has continued to grow really well. So well, we decided to cut some of the sheep pasture a second time for hay. After baling up the hay we rented a big tractor and manure spreader to spread two years worth of composted sheep manure on the hay field.

We keep the sheep outside spreading their own manure as much as possible during the winter, but we do end up with a decent amount of bedding from the sheep barn to compost. Spreading compost is pretty expensive, but you can put the fertility just where you want it, which is nice. We usually hire a neighbor to spread every other year, but this year he wasn't available so I had to do it myself.

Grazing right now is pretty as there is tons of grass everywhere for the cows and sheep to enjoy.

Thanks for reading,
